Exercise your right to vote

today we had the run-off elections since people couldn't decide who they wanted in the primaries. the blog below is about the primary elections back in july. happy reading....

Primary elections
yesterday in georgia, we had our primary race. i'm so inspired, not because of the candidates more because i remember all the people who looked like me and died for the right to vote. believe it or not, i didn't take it seriously at one time. i thought my vote didn't matter. i was living in nj at the time and it seemed that the same people were in office all the time. it didn't matter if i voted because no one would run against these folks. that all changed with sires ran for mayor of west new york. he was the 1st cuban to run against the incumbent defino. it was a heated race. defino had been in office 17 years. that's a long time yall. anyway, sires pounded the pavement and WON!!!! the new kid on the block ran and won. it was the first time it had happened and i'm proud to say that i was a part of the process. i respected the platform he ran on, i believed that he would bring change to the neighborhood. it wasn't the same old empty promises being re-iterated over and over and over again. you could see it at the rallies that people wanted him to win. not because of what he said but what he promised to do. sure it took time, don't all good things take time. it was an adjustment for everyone but you saw the difference once he stepped into office. it was truly amazing.

we're at that time again on the national level. i don't care who you vote for or why you vote for them. everyone is entitled to their opinion. that's the whole premise of this country to begin with. yes, i believe in CONspiracies. yes, i believe the current administration cheated it's way into office. history will reveal all. i think the current president's ratings are lower than Nixon's. who thought that was possible? EXERCISE YOUR RIGHT TO VOTE!!!!! if you're non-caucasian it's even more important that you go out and vote. our ancestors died for the right to cast a ballot. they weren't born with that right. we take it for granted how easy we have things here in this country. turn on the news and you hear about genocide, and people getting killed trying to promote democracy. just imagine, it wasn't too long ago that people were getting lynched and set on fire for demanding equality. yes, we have a long way to go i agree; it's far from perfect. look at how far we have come. one day, the world will be color blind. the world is shifting. technology is making it easier for all of us to express our views. youtube, myspace, facebook, divine9online, linked, hi5 the list of online social networks is endless. imagine all the good we can do when we focus our minds on it. this is a great time to be alive. there's more than hope out there. there truly is something greater than all of us.

do your part and encourage others to do the same. drag them with you if you have to. it doesn't matter who you vote for, just remember to VOTE!!!!!!
