Universal Healthcare is NOT Socialism

today i watched the movie sicko by michael moore. like many millions of americans, i have NO medical insurance. i'm not one for crying because i really really REALLY hate crying especially over a movie. this time though, i was so overwhelmed by emotion that i couldn't help it. the things that i saw in the movie left me angry, hurt and sad. insurance companies are interested in one thing......PROFIT$$$$. it's considered a medical lo$$, when they have to pay a claim. they'd rather see you broke, homeless and even dead before cutting into their profit. you're quality of life has been reduced to a $$$$ sign. medical reviewers are compensated with bonu$e$ for having a high denial rate. it doesn't matter if a procedure is medically necessary; they're job is to save the company money by denying your claim. whatever happened to the creed of do no harm? and insurance companies are not the only ones profiting from this it's our elected politicians as well. did you know that for every congressman/woman there are four insurance lobbyists? no wonder America is falling apart at the seams. it's because we've been $OLD, BAMBOOZLED, HOODWINKED for a campaign endorsement. politicians and media mongrels use tactics like fear and intimidation to keep us confused, misinformed and disenfranchised. they know that with universal healthcare, a large percentage of their endorsement money will vanish. insurance companies will be forced out of business. drug companies won't be able to charge exorbitant fees for medications that cost pennies to make. healthcare in the U$A is a scam and we the American people are the one's being ripped off. i still have medical bills from an operation i had last july for things my insurance didn't cover. my friend had her appendix removed and had to use her vacation time to recuperate because she used all her sick days. in europe they don't have a set number of sick days. if you're sick you're sick. they don't have to show an insurance card or fill out a bunch of forms before seeing a doctor. they don't wait long hours either. they don't have to go to a hospital that is "in network". they don't have to choose between paying their bills and buying their medication. they receive the care they need in order to stay alive using modern day technology. what touched my heart most was seeing 3 9/11 volunteers(our heros) get free medical care that was denied to them in the states. they were treated and given a regimen to improve their quality of life. one lady was even taken off 5 of the 9 medications she was taking. how can a country that claims to care for the poor, oppressed and downtrodden turn it's back on it's own citizens? where is our sense of compassion? no one should be denied proper care because of their inability to pay. in order to improve the quality of life of EVERY American we need to start taking care of one another. the system that exists now continues to fail us. it needs to be abandoned completely. let's show the world what a great nation we are by creating a healthcare system that is based on love and compassion instead of profit.
